Former singer-actress Lindsay Custodio has officially filed a case under the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (Republic Act No. 9262) against her estranged husband, Frederick Cale. The complaint was lodged at the Department of Justice in Quezon City, accompanied by her legal counsel, Atty. Heyz Meking, and supported by witnesses including her mother, Teresita Custodio, daughter, Charisse Marianne Platon, and close friend, actress Bianca Lapus.
This marks the second time Custodio has pursued legal action against Cale; a previous case filed in 2024 was dismissed due to jurisdictional issues. According to Atty. Meking, the renewed case is backed by comprehensive evidence and testimonies, highlighting the emotional and psychological distress Custodio endured during their marriage.
Custodio stated that her decision to proceed with the case is driven by a desire to reclaim her dignity and protect her family. She emphasized the importance of standing up against abuse, not only for herself but also for her children and mother who have silently suffered alongside her.
The case has garnered public attention, shedding light on the challenges faced by women in abusive relationships and the legal avenues available for redress.
